I like ranch as a dip for veggies or other snacks. And I also like ranch flavored foods like ranch Doritos! I'm not a huge fan of ranch as an actual salad dressing though. It's too heavy and overpowering. I prefer lighter vinaigrettes on salads.

It's basically mayonnaise mixed with buttermilk and spices, mainly garlic, onion, and salt. It may not sound too nice described, but it's tasty as a dip. I like it on salad but only if it's used very sparingly and with a ton of pepper.

Never noticed this. I'd rather have nothing than ranch. If it's loaded with dill, it's not terrible on raw vegetables but cooked vegetables with butter and dill need no ranch. I think an important distinction needs to be made: Hidden valley ranch is passable on a salad if there's no good Italian or balsamic Hidden valley buttermilk ranch is passable if a pizza joint doesn't know how to make its own and you're not eating a white-sauce pizza The only acceptable form of ranch is that REALLYgood ranch pizza joints know how to make And ranch is really truly only acceptable on pizza. Cocktail sauce!! I was like 10 at a family party and I was "OBSESSED" with ketchup. Grabbed two shrimp cocktail like they were chopsticks and dragged a CHUNCK of "ketchup" and ate it. I nearly puked and also cried when I found out it was cocktail sauce. I've never had it since.
