Is this about the American school system or just schools in general

by Critical-Gift238 1 week ago

American. I can't speak for other school systems.

If a 5 year old wrote all that I'd be even more worried about the school system tbh

You do realize that kindergarten is covered under elementary education programs and does require a degree. At a reputable college or university there are requirements for educational and developmental psychology.

Nothing like more barriers to teaching to solve the massive shortage đź‘Ť

There's a shortage because it has terrible compensation for the amount of work involved. Kids are a lot of work, we can't change that. But salaries can be changed, especially something that's supposed to be funded by the government.

I… dunno? Kids need to be taught to exist as individuals, independent people that can stand on their own two feet. Right now, if it comes down to it, they can't and they're not taught that. So a teacher said something the kid didn't like? Boo effen hoo. Maybe that teacher should learn from the experience and research before teaching… Because then they could do so deliberately rather than accidentally. I posit that, most kids we classify as having learning disabilities… don't have learning disabilities. We as parents just parked them in front of phones and tablets, and then surprise pikachu face when they develop issues with their attention spans. That's not the kid's fault: it's ours. Then we have schools prohibiting teachers from A, enforcing discipline, and B, permitting them to repeat a year when necessary. And as a result, out of 100 kids, 90 of them would be able to do better were it not for the 10 holding them back. It's not even just about education. At this point, we're talking about simply being functional members of society in the future. Someone who never had to deal with any adversity, always got what they wanted, was never told no… … will end up Dudley Dursley rather than Harry Potter.
