+33 We're lucky feet are mostly the same across all people. Imagine trying to buy shoes if feet shapes were as unique as ears or noses, amirite?

try buying shoes for a wide foot and getting to actually fit, its hard enough.

fr I don't think I've ever owned a pair of shoes that actually fit. My everyday shoes have holes worn into the sides :,)

My wakeup for this was when I bought Redwing work boots. Normally I buy size 12 boots, but the shop assistant helped me find what actually fits. I went home with a size 10.5 EEE. Apparently I don't have size 12 feet, I have "triple wide" size 10 feet.

Why I'll never wear Nikes, they're not built for my feet

I've got slim feet and have to tighten shoes a lot to not slide around. And forget about sandals

Oh I have bad arthritis and my feet are super swollen trust me I know

I got swollen feet and legs, courtesy of a previous job where i was standing for 10 hours at a time.

We ignore the extent of foot differences. Some people have a very hard time finding appropriate shoes, and others learn to live with constant discomfort. Signed, a lady with US size 14 feet.

I feel your pain. Signed, a lady with circular UK size 3 feet.

My deepest condolences. Some days I consider just making those tied leather shoes they find on bog mummies, because it's all soooo stupid.

We could start a trend.

I'm thinking you could swap out different laces for different looks. Pouch feet with a dark grey leather cord wrapped around the ankle for no-nonsense business chic; pouch feet with violet ribbons criss-crossed up the calf for drinks on the town later on.

Brilliant. Are you a personal stylist? ;-)

Clearly I'm destined to be...

by Signal-Estate-714 1 week ago

I'm sorry...circular?

by altenwerthmarce 1 week ago

Wide as they are long, sort of thing. Not literally.

by Signal-Estate-714 1 week ago

Right like I think the differences exist we just don't wear ear shoes

Tell me you have never worked in a shoe store without telling me that you've never worked in a shoe store 🤣 I spent less than two years in a shoe store and the atrocities I saw will haunt me for life.

20+ years NO SHOES That fit remotely close. AT ALL. Crib shoes were ok. 26 now, will be 27 in December.

by Chemical-Can 1 week ago

Right? Good thing that shoes are never any different sizes or shapes. YEEEEP, all the exact same.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

They are, some people struggle more than others to find comfortable shoes.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Good for you for never struggling to find shoes. They're definitely just as different if not even more different than ears and noses. I have small feet, but wide in the front, small in the back, and my feet have about a size different from each other. That always makes shopping fun. There are VERY few shoes I can wear comfortably without paying a ton to make them fit. If they fit in the front, they're always way too big in the back and vice versa. If it fits on one foot, the other will either slide around and get chaffing, or will be squeezed and hurt like hell.

And still we use shoes that aren't made to fit normal feet. And the fashionable women's shoes, Jesus have mercy, those have to be against some international treaty.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Makes me wonder how women were brainwashed into accepting certain fashion standards. And what about the absolutely crippling habit of foot binding in Japan? International treaty, hahaha 🤣

Most headphones and earmuffs fit people with all different shaped ears. Most masks fit on most people's noses despite differences of them.

by Ugislason 1 week ago

And then you get to buy climbing shoes… I think it's more like - most shoes are made to be good for most people. More specialised shoes need a better fit to your feet-type
