3d printed meat and lab grown meat is a good invention, amirite?
by Anonymous1 week ago
It's only a theory. I don't even think we're close yet.

I wont partake until it exists for some time. Im more of a late adopter type.

Theres just so many steps where quality could go wrong. At least a natural animal will die. Lab meat might be able to squeek by unnoticed. I just think that there will be challenges in establishing good quality control processes. In cheap animals, they pump them full of drugs. What will they do with lab meat to prevent lost revenue?

In cheap animals, they pump them full of drugs. What will they do with lab meat to prevent lost revenue? I mean, if you're thinking of antibiotics and hormones, those wouldn't be necessary if it's synthesized, you're making exactly the proteins you want in the amount you want. Food poisoning would be a risk, but that's a risk now and I would guess a lab setting would produce a lesser one.

Anti COVID Vax because it has an untested MRNA delivery method. I have all my others though. Would have taken COVID Vax if they had made it the same as all the others before it.

Do you have a problem with lab produced acetylsalicylic acid?
by Willing-Sleep1 week ago
No that is aspirin. That is not something I am consuming on the daily for my nourishment.

So not "lab grown anything." Why do you trust that a lab can produce compounds found in willow bark but not steak?
by Willing-Sleep1 week ago
It's different to synthesize a chemical, vs a whole piece of meat. I wouldn't eat a cow that was only fed chemicals either.

Still a lousy argument comparing food with medication.

Organic chemistry with organic chemistry, if we know how to safely replicate one compound we can learn to replicate others just as safely, the use to which we put those compounds is irrelevant.

2nd, and I explained why. Apparently I worded it wrong. Scroll and find one besides this. You didn't read the body, did you?
