I wanted to smack Dr House the first time I watched the show. Now that I'm a chronic pain patient, he makes more sense. I have to try to not emulate his assjoleishness.

I think it's a typo, but assjoleishness is a nice portmanteau of assholery and cajoleing. Which kind of fits his character.

They addressed that with flashbacks. His personality was exactly the same before he was a chronic pain patient. Though I see the potential for chronic pain to change personalities.

Ron Swanson is another example. I know the actor(Nick Offerman) said in an interview that while it's a nice idea to have that sort of friend, that friend is probably the worst friend you could have.

I can't even stand a lot of assholes in television either. I'm always waiting for the supposedly sane/badass/intelligent/no nonsense protagonist to just walk away, or better yet, deck them in the face. I have only received catharsis from that actually happening like maybe 3 or 4 times across movies and shows

one man's asshole is another man's brutally honest.
by Anonymous1 week ago
I've usually found people who brag about being brutally honest are just assholes making excuses.

also, i don't brag. i just am. i can't abide hypocrites. why would i brag about something that has caused me nothing but problems with upper management and could easily be solved by brownnosing and being a yes man?
