Yeah fuck roses, let's take a page out of American Beauty and use plastic bags. That shit's romantic AND takes thousands of years to bio-degrade.

1) Roses are red or pink wich often symbolize love (plus rose means pink in French and is a derivative of words for the same colours in other languages) 2) Historically speaking it was a symbol of the Goddess Aphrodite in ancient Greece and a symbol of Venus in ancient Rome. 3) The same reasons as stated above.

Well, it could be about all the symbolic stuff people have stated earlier, or it can be because roses are pretty and smell good.
