+519 Prisons are getting way too convenient. I mean, seriously they have computer time?? What happened to bread and water?? Five star meals should not be on their menu. They are in there for doing something horrible; they should not have it better than most people. It's our money going to them, they should be suffering. They made other people suffer. amirite?

It's not total freedom. :/ and besides, if you treat them like animals they'll act like animals. A wounded dog bites twice as hard as a pampered one.

Well, as long as they're caged up, everything will be fine. I don't think OP is talking about druggies/drug dealers/prostitutes. I think he is talking about murderers, rapists, etc. Those people need to be locked up in solitary confinement with nothing but the diaries/photos of the victims.

Even so. People can change, and I don't think it's fair to treat them badly based on what they HAVE done. The past is the past, and EVERYONE deserves at least one second chance.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you give rapists and murderers a second chance, then they will end up committing the same crime again, possibly worse. And besides, the prisoners are more spoiled in prison than many families in the United States. God forbid that someone who murdered a family have to eat something other than a 5-star meal. I don't even get 5-star meals daily. There are some days that I don't have a single cooked item to eat throughout the day. I do not want to pay taxes to spoil some rapist.

Wow... You really don't believe in people do you? What I'm saying is, the way you treat people will come back to bite you. If you treat people who have wronged you well, then they will hopefully react well to your kindness. If you treat them badly they will retaliate. Better off having a slim chance of making them better people than none at all. I agree that repeat offenders however shouldn't have the luxruies they are provided with tough.

I do believe in people. That is why I want to protect them from the rapists and murderers. I would hardly consider my proposed punishment as treating them badly. It's not like we're using actual torture devices and beating them regularly. If we place the rapists and murderers behind bars for life, then they cannot retaliate unless they escape.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think you're over reacting a bit. :/ People are people. The victims could have been the attackers. All human beings are capable of the same thing, it's the environment they are placed in which determines what they become. :/

I completely agree with you, especially the pedophiles, murderers, and rapists. They should be in solitary freaking confinement with nothing more than a toilet and bread.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

there is plenty of reasons why people are in prision. i do agree, but not everyone made someone else suffer. you never know what could happen, and they give them these opportunities so they have a second chance to do good, and it actually does work.

They are wayyy too privileged. Our tax money could be going somewhere else, like back in our pockets. It shouldn't be going to the internet or television for people who committed crimes. Not gonna lie, though, it'd be pretty funny if a convicted pedophile went onto the internet just to find a victim. The crime wouldn't be funny, but the irony behind it would be.

Prisoners do not get to use computers. And their food is worse than your cafeteria food. Those who are in for a more serious crime have less privileges than others.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the shouldnt have computers, or good food. they should be spending their time becoming better members of society for when they get out. spend your money on helping them not end up there again.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's called rehabilitation, not brutal fucking punishment.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

erm, yes it is... :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It depends on the crime. Murderers, pedofiles and the like should be treated like crap, but if you are in there for smoking weed or tresspassing or something, being fed only bread and water and not having anything to entertain you would probably just make you have no respect for the system and therefore be more inclined to break it when you get out.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree. If you're a rapist/ murderer/ etc, you should get average food and definitely not tv or Internet. If they committed a small crime, they won't be in too long and a month without tv wouldn't be torture. I think our tax money shouldn't go to pampering criminals. They're called "detention" centers, not "rehab". People pay to be pampered at rehab.
