+81 You'd rather call roadside assistance even though you could change your tire yourself, amirite?

I'd try to fix my tire with duct tape before I call someone to help. And to elaborate on my lameness, I've changed my tire before. Not because it was flat, but just to make sure I could do it if I ever needed to.

Haha that's exactly the problem with USA. And I'm not insulting anyone, I just honestly think this. It's a society of people who depend on other people.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

We all depend on others...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well you depend on others to get your internet...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, I mean like... calling a person to change your tires. An independent person would do it themselves, another would call. That means not everyone depends just the same, right? I mean, sure we need to depend for certain things, but not for all.

While I have frequently disagreed with your opinions, in this instance I agree. It's a basic skill everyone who owns and automobile should have, and the idea that someone would be too lazy to do it themselves appalls me. I think is a major flaw in American culture. (And I say this as a member of it)

Oh my god! Does everyone in your country know how to change a tire? I fucking doubt it. "...a society of people who depend on other people." I'm sorry, but last time I checked, a civilization can not survive unless the people are dependent on eachother. Please elaborate, because I must be missing something.

Oh, no, I didn't say Americans are stupid and can't change tires! I'm just talking about the results of the post. It's like in one episode of That 70s Show, when the dad notices that the table is wobbly, and then (I quote from the script) "Eric: Yeah, just put a sugar packet under it. Red: Sugar packet? That’s what’s wrong with this country Eric. Nobody wants to roll up their sleeves and work. They’re all looking for their sugar packet solution. Well, not me. I’m getting a saw!" That's exactly what I'm saying. Just that. They just always choose the easy way of a situation, that's all, nothing negative. It's just not how my country functions, but that doesn't mean it's worse in any way.

Wouldnt you choose the easy way out if you didn't know how to do something. I'm sure if a person knew how to change a tire, they would do it themselves; if they don't, then they would call someone. Is it just me or am I reading the post too loosely.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well the post //does// specify that you can do it yourself. That's actually exactly what it's saying -- "you'd rather have someone else do the work for you".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't think you can say all of America is like that. I'm sure tons of people would change it themselves. As for me, I'll admit it: I'm a lazy fuck. Even if I did know how to change a tire (and I don't have the slightest clue), I'd rather just call someone to do it for me.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sure, not all. It's just kind of... more there than any other place. I mean, you can call it obese right? But not everyone's obese. It's just statistically more obese than most other countries.

I can't change a tire haha, I'd probably just call my dad.

Why should I get my hands dirty when I have AAA?
