Yes if you're putting make-up for that reason then yes it is degrading. Mostly, putting on make-up just means you care about your appearance, or its very special to a guy(or atleast me) when a girl puts on make-up just for us to go out. Thats why I wind up shaving and showering and keep my hair short even though I wish I could grow it long, brushing my teeth, pomade, muscle milk, power bars, hgh. If you look good on the outside it helps you feel good on the inside. Its not always degrading.

Most of my friends wear makeup, whether it is mascara, eyeliner, or just cover up. I wear no makeup, unless I have a horrible huge red pimple. Then, I put on just a spot of concealer over my pimple. I hate wearing makeup when I don't need to.

Makeup is less of a method of enhancement for me than it is a creative process. I get to create a work of art using my skin as a canvas that only lasts a day. It doesn't matter if I go minimalistic or completely outrageous - as long as I am creating something, I always have a little more pride in myself. I can still go without makeup as well. How far I take it generally depends on the situation.
