I'd rather be complimented on something I'm not already proud of. For example, I've become desensitized to people complimenting my piano skills after I play in a recital. However, my young heart gets filled with joy when my English teacher says my essay demonstrates great personal growth in my writing. TL;DR: orgasms feel better

Same, I'd rather get a compliment on something I'm insecure about than something I'm already are proud of.
