+601 It's annoying when school elections come up and people say it's not a popularity contest, when really it is, amirite?

When I ran for student council treasurer last year, in my speech, I reminded everybody that it wasn't a popularity contest, mainly because I would lose if it was. Needless to say, I was right.

I was the only one that worked toward change before the elections in 5th grade. I got the pizza changed back to a cheesy crust after it was disgusting whole wheat and bland. I was going to get maple syrup for the french toast sticks. I lost because I wasn't popular :/ I'm still mad about it. I DESERVED to win!

Well, yeah. Maybe the winners won't be the "popular" ones that every secretly hates, but the ones that are well-liked by everyone for being friendly and having a good sense of humor. No surprise there.

It's because student council can't do shit

This makes me feel good about winning.

and this just gets homepaged now?

I don't know. The "popular" people at my school are the smart ones. So naturally, when they run, they win. Why? Because they run against the people who get in trouble, smoke pot, and then run because their friends are like, "OMGXZ UR GONNA WIN."
