True enough, but immortality typically implies an "immortal" mind, if you will, that is, a mind that will retain necessary mental function.
And the evolution thing was what I was getting at, I'm extremely interested in how exactly mankind will turn out. Will we go extinct due to a world-wide war? Will a highly resistant disease wipe us out? Will we achieve peace? Colonize the stars? There's so many things that you can never find out in a finite lifetime, and so many things that will happen long after you're forgotten. I hate the fact that I'll never know about all those things.

theres plenty of other reasons. if you live forever theres about a 100% chance that you will get stuck somewhere. you could fall in a pit. if there is an earthquake you might get trapped under rubble and if they dont find you and build on top of there you're
screwed. you will be stuck there forever. you just wont die. it would be terrible. you would go crazy

Regardless of how fast time goes by, you're still able to observe the political environment, if anything, time going by faster would be better because you're able to note the changes more easily. A lifetime sentence in jail isn't really an issue, if you're immortal you can just walk out while the guards try in vain to shoot you.

Also, this is shaping up to be a debate, which wasn't my intention, I was just putting out why immortality would be enjoyable.

If you dont think the time thing would be bad think about this. over time the humans on the planet will slowly evolve, passing on the new evolved traits to their offspring and over millions of years we may look completely different. but the immortal person would be a freak because he never evolved. people will view you as a freak. you will be ridiculed. also your mind will age and you will barely be able to remember anything and you will be beyond senile

I disagree.
I, for one, am interested in how the world is going to be hundreds of years from now.
Plus, unlimited time to figure out exactly how everything works isn't that bad either.

But every year you live time seems to go a little faster. every year is just one of many youve lived. a year would go by in seconds or so it will appear. that would be torture. and it would never stop. also what if you get a lifetime sentence in jail?
