Yeah, I'm actually really happy they casted a black man as Cinna because I pictured him as black while I was reading the book. No idea why though

I pictured him black too! I never really pictured Portia, she looked weird though. And I pictured Rue and Thresh black too.

I honestly seriously legitimately don't care anymore. I was grouchy and making a point, calm the hell down. You're probably like 12.

Also, who cares about his username?

You need to chill out and quit bitching at everyone who disagreed with the post. So you took a year off and helped in an orphanage. Good for you. It doesn't mean that other people are stupid for not taking a year off. No one is being disrespectful to you so stop being disrespectful to everyone else.

Sorry I'm really touchy about this subject, the people back home and my parents friends have been very condascending about me taking a year off school, and I'm sick of a year off being viewed as a negative thing in general. Even if you're not doing something worthwhile, people need a break

While you did something good with your year off, it is something you could have done after you finished college as well. Just because I started college only a couple of weeks after graduating high school doesn't mean I have NO idea what I could do with one year. With that one year(to be completed this May) I will be a sophomore with only one semester to go until I'm a senior. I will have completed in ten months what usually takes people 2 years to complete. Did I waste that year by going to college without taking time off? Certainly not.

So I should have gone to University when I was barely 17? I think I'm too young to go right into University, and all this year has done is re-enforced how much I want to go into Journalism and what line of work I want to go into after I graduate, I also get to work with the most incredible kids I've ever met in my life. Some people need to work too, before they can afford University fees... do you have a loan or are your parents paying? I worked for three years of school and every summer, and with that and my scholarship I can pay off my first two years already. When you're done school you need to start your working life, a lot of people won't take this opportunity when they're in massive debt.

I understand that you support a year off. However, it is ignorant for you to say that the people who NW'd have "NO idea" what they could do with a year. It seems like you have "no idea" what people lose by taking a year off; many scholarships are rendered invalid if you don't go to college straight out of high school (unless the scholarship is based on an international "study abroad" plan), and it can be more difficult to get accepted into a college after a year off.

Don't get it twisted, I'm not saying you're wrong-- I just disagree with you. There are pros and cons to both arguments here. For example, a year off might allow someone to mature more and be better prepared mentally for college than they would be if they went straight out of high school. I don't think there is a right or wrong in this argument.

Really? I was accepted to the best Journalism program in the country with a 2,000 dollar scholarship and a guaranteed spot in Res last year, and I requested a defferal and was accepted again... not all scholarships are rendered invalid, nor are your residence opportunities. So yeah, you're not losing anything and you're spending a year getting to know yourself and what you want to do with your life; even if you're not doing something like I am here.

Also your username bugs me because it's my ex's name :P

I'm going to repeat myself from up there, but I'm seventeen years old, I lived in Canada for the last five years. I graduated high school a year early and decided to take a year off, and move to India to volunteer for an orphanage for Tibetan refugees. I support a year off. The people who voted no way have NO idea what you could do with one year.

Well what are you taking the year off to do? Go to another country and experience other countries or work and save up money? or sit on your butt and do nothing all day?

Well I moved to India for a year to work at an orphanage for Tibetan refugees as an English tutor and I work with ten other children's home and plan to raise money for my orphanage for the rest of my life. I skipped third grade so taking a year off only puts me on par with other students for age.

Think I wasted my year?
