It's kind of pathetic how even at a young age, we still exhibit forms of racism, I did this too, but I never realized this until I saw this post.

it was called flesh when my dad was a kid

hmm...racist much? btw, crayola got in trouble for naming one of their peach-shaded colors "nude" because it excluded people of different ethnicities other than caucasian.

It wasn't intended to be racist, I went to a predominantly white school and that's what everyone called it. It didn't even occur to me it was remotely racist until now, because it was my natural skin tone and I addressed it as such.

unless you were black

i still do that. i wouldnt call it racist.. its just that im white, i go to an almost entirely white school, and there isnt much racial diversity where i live. when i say 'skin color' , im referring to my skin color

In my old school, a friend of mine (he was about 7) drew a picture of a man, colouring it with a brownish color pencil, so he looked african, and he got no recess for a month. My old teacher is now doing 3 years in prison for numerous racist comments to black students. I remember her once referring to that color pencil as 'inferior skin color'
