+258 Why is a child of non-married parents called a "love-child"? Are married people that have kids not in love enough to have a "love-child"? Makes no sense, amirite?

Actually, that might be true. Not sure if the word love-child comes from this, but marriage used to be seen as sort of a business deal - a person of a certain social standing was expected to marry someone of similar social standing, and naturally children were expected in a marriage, but love wasn't really a requirement. So the illegitimate children were seen as being born out of passion and lust, rather than just two people who got married and then reproduced because it was expected of them. Just a thought.
