It's really stupid....just make it legal allready. It pisses me off that some people who love one another have to wait for permission to get married from some random other people who don't even care and don't even matter. I'm a girl and I'm in love with a boy and I can't imagine how it would be if we decided to be together for the rest of our lives and were stopped by the government!! while other people around us are getting married!! =O . Its just wronge.

I know, and its like even if you were against gay marriage, which idk why you would need to be, it doesn't affect you so why vote against it. Plus, most people who are against it is because of religion. well first of all not everyone is catholic, and second of all what happened to separation of church and state?

Even if the reason they are against it is religious... where's the logic in thinking you need to stop everyone else from marrying gay. What are these people afraid of?... Is it like they're scared that if it becomes legal then thier kids might grow up to be gay and it will be easier for them to be gay because gay marraige is allowed?? If thats the case aren't they afraid of thier kids being gay but being forced to marry straight and being unhappy!! And we know things that are made illegal don't just disappear from society like ...poof! And yeah what happened to separation of church and state.

And all of this for the sake of procreation which is how god meant it to be for the human race nonsense..... I mean whatever happened to adoption huh? Why has god made some women naturally infertile??.... Clearly god wants some couples to adopt and balance things out when some other couples procreate and then need to abandon thier kids for various reasons. So logically thier just aint no reason to be against gay marraige and as a society I think it's regressive to not be able to see that!

I know! It's like, gays can't have kids! Neither can older couples or infertile couples, but you see them getting married. I have two moms and I am their child. Gay couples can get a surrogate or go to a sperm bank or adopt. Just let them get married. It's not going to destroy society, it's going to make millions of couples happy.

Maybe that's just him, and not the fact that he was too afraid to be himself, but either way it didn't just damage him and my mother, but everyone around--me, my siblings, extended family, friends. Yeah, maybe I owe my existence to his mistake, but I know that if, had he been able to marry who he wanted and be who he was, no one would have gotten hurt. Because of what he's gone and who he's become, I no longer speak to him and he won't be able to see his children not only on fathers day, but on Thanksgiving, Christmas, maybe even New Years. And all of that could have been avoided if people like him had their rights.

yeah .... =(. I feel for you. Even though I don't have the same situation as yours I do have one that let's me know how painful it is to know that one or both of your parents are unhappy in thier marraige. It must be difficult for you to have this conflict in your life where you obviously can understand your dads bitterness but you also feel bad for yourself your siblings etc. You've been put through a lot of unpleasantness which was none of your doing. Sometimes when ppl are forced to live with something they don't want to they end up ruining themselves AND other people.

yea, I think that people use the whole "the church is against it because gay people cannot procreate" as an excuse, because you never hear about people complaining about people getting married who are unable to have kids or dont want to. and hahaha dooo it!

I agree. There is a separation of church and state [not enough, obviously, because some people are exempt from taxes for religious reasons] and the Catholic church should not influence peoples' decisions. Saying gays can't marry because they can't procreate is like saying infertile people can't marry.

first of all,, post #112211 and 2. I have 2 kids in my grade both named Dylan; and one has 2 moms, and the other has 2 dads. Although, even though i am in middle school, people are still getting pissed about gay marriage. I'm like, it's ALREADY legal where we live! here is something you should realize: Civil Unions and Domestic Partnerships do not entail the same rights as a Marriage. Marriage is not limited to the religious, as Anon above me stated. People have separated DP and CU couples from seeing each other, and noone does anything. This is much less likely to happen with marriages. Please get your facts straight before complaining impotently.

Marraige is a 'legal' process .....here are only a few examples of legal benefits given to 'married couples' that gay couples don't get like joint insurance policies for home, auto and health etc,immigration and residency for partners from other countries,inheritance automatically in the absence of a will,the fact that your children will not be considered illegitimate by the law, even things like decision-making power with respect to whether a deceased partner will be cremated or not and where to bury him or her....etc etc... many things that we just take for granted because for most of us marraige is easy. And please for your next comment grow a spine and use your real username.

One teacher in my school doesn't like Obama (at all ) because he is pro gay marrage. She says it goes against the bible. The bible also says that you must hate the sin and love the sinner. SO WHY THE HELL ARE PEOPLE SAYING STUFF ABOUT OBEYING THE BIBLE WHEN THEY ARE GOING AGAINST ONE OF THEIR COMMANDMENTS???? (she USED to be my faveourite teacher.)
