Why the fuck did they burn down the burrow in the sixth Harry Potter Movie, amirite?
by Anonymous14 years ago
The director said the movie needed more action, but in my opinion, the way the book was written was absolutely perfect.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Exactly, if the movie needed more action, they actually could've put in the HUGE fight scene at the end right when Dumbledore is killed instead of just skipping it, honestly, the director is an idiot.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I agree. The book had an epic fight scene that felt like it went on for an hour, not Harry just running after Snape and casting like 2 spells
by Anonymous14 years ago
Actually, the director said in an interview that he chose to burn down the burrow in order to show all the chaos and horror Voldemort was causing in the Wizarding world instead of just having Harry and his friends hearing little snippets of news from other people, like in the book. Not only does it help condense the movie, but in terms of visual/action it's more interesting to just see it rather then hear about it.

but the burrow wasn't even burnt in the book!!!!!! (Btw OP, you're awesome)
by Anonymous14 years ago
(Roonil Wazlib): I never said it was.
by Anonymous14 years ago
totally agree! with the burrow burnt down how r they supposed to hav the wedding? especially since they never introduced bill and fleur as a couple and since they didn't hav the battle at the end of the book bill didn't get his face mangled so fleur wasn't excepted into the family so they're is no way they can make the 7th movie right bcuz they won't hav he beginning how it's supposed to be which will mak the whole movie messed up
by Anonymous14 years ago
I want to agree with your comment, but there are so many spelling and grammar errors, I just can't take you seriously.
by Anonymous14 years ago
My hero.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I thought it was because they can't have the wedding with bill and fleur because they didn't say anything about it at all in any of the movies so instead putting it in there randomly in the 7th movie they burn down the burrow. retarded. They shouldve just showed bill and fleurs relationship.
by Anonymous14 years ago
The director could have shown all the chaos and horror by showing us the fight at Hogwarts before Dumbledore died. Now THAT scene is full of chaos and horror!
Oh, well. No use crying over spilled potion. I can't wait for Deathly Hallows!
by Anonymous14 years ago
THANK THE GOD OF YOUR CHOICE THAT YOU SAID THAT. That was infuriating... bill and fleurs story definitely should've been showed instead.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I liked this comment partly because I agree with it, but mostly because of your capslocked excitement. "Thank the god of your choice"... I laughed.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Now we don't know what's gonna happen in the seventh movie. I hope they don't mess it up. I'm glad they are doing it in two parts, but the wedding was a throughly expressed throughout the book. Idk. We'll have to see what the director decides to do on 11/15/10.
by Anonymous14 years ago
It's totally unfair that they did that !!!!! I was so upset
by Anonymous14 years ago
The director burnt down the burrow for more action and left out the fighting when Dumbledore died because he thought it would be too similar to the final fight scene at Hogwarts in the last movie.
by Anonymous14 years ago
So pretty much the d-bag decided that he was smarter than J.K Rowling >:/
by Anonymous14 years ago
the reason there was a lot of mistakes in my comment was that my keyboard is a piece of crap so often the keys don't work and honestly i'm on he computer i don't really need to make sure i spell everything perfect or do capitals my point is valid regardless
by Anonymous14 years ago
I think they could have made it work, except for it wasn't in the book and it was never mentioned again throughout the rest of the movie :-/ Didn't they show Bill and Fleur's wedding in one of the previews? I might be wrong but it looked like her dancing or something.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I know!
So many major things happen at the Burrow in the 7th book! Like; Fleur and Bill's marriage, the ghoul being turned into Ron, Ron going and hiding out there, etc.
They also missed so many pensive memories that the people who just watch the movies and don't read the books won't be able to understand most of the movie.
Plus they left out SO many major events!!
GAH, the sixth movie was just such a fail all round *shakes head*
by Anonymous14 years ago
Very true, since the fourth movie they just kept getting worse..
by Anonymous14 years ago
WHY ISN'T PEEVES THE POLTERGEIST IN ANY OF THE MOVIES!? best character by far.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I AGREE! They should put him and bloody barom together. It'll be EPIC.
by Anonymous14 years ago
(Roonil Wazlib): OH MY GOD YES. and since the bloody baron's only in the first one, how are they going to explain how he killed helena for the diadem? aaah the movies are so messed up..
by Anonymous14 years ago
I forgot about him!!!! but in all honesty im not surprised he wasnt in them, the fourth fifth and sixth movies were just terrible, i stopped liking the harry potter series a lot because of how bit of a disappointment the last few movies were..
by Anonymous14 years ago
They wanted everyone to know how badass Bellatrix is.
by Anonymous14 years ago
J.K. Rowling originally had the Burrow burning in the book, but decided to take it out, but was glad they put it in the movie. They obviously can put the house back together with magic. how the deathly hallows movie works in Bill and Fleur on the spot will be interesting to see, but I know for a fact that the wedding will take place and ron and harry will go to live at Shell Cottage when they are supposed to.
by Anonymous14 years ago
As far as fixing the house with magic goes, if you could build houses with magic, don't you think that everybody would have mansions? If the Weasley's could make possessions from magic, they wouldn't have to buy everything secondhand. Also, everything destroyed by dark magic is harder to repair (George's ear).
In response to the idea that it is more "interesting" to explicitly show chaos and horror rather than talk about it, I disagree. Perhaps it is more visually exciting, but that is not all that makes something interesting. The movie, The Others, utilized the unseen brilliantly. The violence in Harry Potter is supposed to be ratcheted up slowly and precisely; the atmosphere of fear and apprehension is built on the network of rumours and lies that reach Harry's ears, usually culminating in the final (action) scenes of the novels. TheBurrow scene is smack dab in the middle
In short, I don't quite believe the rumour that JKR wrote this scene. Can somebody show me proof?

the burrow is held up by magic as it is said in the second book.
