What if a schizophrenic swears? Does he wash his own mouth with soap?
by Anonymous14 years ago
lol im deaf, and do you really want to know the fact? actually depending on the level of discipline, some parents would smack their kids' hands.. but as for my dad, he sticks with old way, he washed my mouth with soap ha

"lol im deaf" hahah
by Anonymous14 years ago
and next time, dont say mute, say deaf.. dont say hearing impaired either.. thanks ha
by Anonymous14 years ago
Why should she say deaf instead of mute? They're two different things. Deaf is when you can't hear, and mute is when you can't talk. They're different, meaning, in this case, mute is more appropriate.

yeah i understand completely, you are right based on the definition in the dictionary, but this society, many people identify deaf people as mute because they think we cant talk.. i bet this LycanChick didnt intentionally said that, but its how deaf people feel when we see the word "mute" its hard for you guys to understand., dont blame ya
by Anonymous14 years ago
And how do you think people who were just mute and not deaf would feel if we started replacing the word mute with deaf?
by Anonymous14 years ago
good question actually, just saying many people do call us mute for which we dont like.. not necessarily to replace the word mute with deaf, you know what i mean?
by Anonymous14 years ago
Yea, i suppose it'd be really annoying to be called something you really aren't all the time. The thing is though, I've never met a deaf person and called them mute, so it never actually occurred to me, but then again, I've never actually met someone who is deaf..
by Anonymous14 years ago
yeah i aint saying its from you directly, not many people actually met a deaf person before.. but thanks for your understanding though... maybe someday u ll meet one.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Haha! That was hilarious! To bad you didn't make it up yourself.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I did, actually. It followed a conversation a friend and I had.@192863 (flipflop386):

(TheLycanChick):No you didn't, that joke has been a part of igoogle's "Things to Ponder" widget for years so don't be giving me that crap
by Anonymous14 years ago
Alrighty then, I'm obviously much less original than I thought. I didn't go Googling for jokes, it just occured to me.

Just because she wasn't the only one to make it up doesn't mean she didn't make it up.

Well people talk about being politically correct towards mexicans and african americans... Why should deaf / hard of hearing people be left out?
by Anonymous14 years ago
Why should we be politically correct at all? Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, unless it's ruined by things like that.
