she faked her death so people would leave her alone (because everyone thought she was evil even though she wasn't) and she could live happily ever after with the love of her life, fiyero (the scarecrow)

Well he was a man when she fell in love with him and trying to save him by people who were killing him for being with her, she cast a spell which messed up and turned him into a scarecrow. it's an awesome show, you should see it
