-31 Vuvuzelas are a part of us as South Africans, and make the world cup AMAZING. The complaining foreigners need to get over themselves. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm all for your heritage, but when it pisses off everyone else and makes the players unable to communicate, it has to stop. There must be some other aspect of your culture that you can display.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But they're so annoying!!!!!! I'm sure there are other aspects of South African culture that can be displayed during the games. Songs? Dances? National Anthem (goes with songs)? Anything but those infernal horns?

rape, aids, poverty, getting hunted by tigers, tons of other things

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The first time i saw this i read it as venezuelas are part of us south americans and i was like... Duh? Then i reread it and was like... Oh well it makes sence now

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was going to post this ahaha. But it's so true. They can get irritating, but so can the soccer chants, and the songs, can be annoying as well. Just deal with it. And after like... three minutes, it goes away.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I thought it was dramatic music at first, that would change when a player gets a goal... ahaha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are those those annoying bee things? can't they be quieter though? I don't even watch the world cup and I heard them here in America, that's how loud they are.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The vuvuzelas were summoned straight from hell! NO seriously! Several people in the audience must go deaf during the game! The players can barely hear the judge's whistle! It sounds like a bee nest! Stop it! Stop it NOW!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

fuck your worthless bullshit tradition.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i'm also south-african, and yes the vuvuzelas are annoying during games but if it truly bothers you so much,m just turn off the TV. It sounds amazing when you're in the stadium!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think that all of the nations coming together toplay soccer is what makes the world cup "AMAZING", not those stupid horns.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I respect your little tradition, and Im sure many people do...but it gets to the point where it's pretty obnoxious. I know we probably dont understand what it has to do with your culture, but there are other things you can do. You dont see every other country displaying an obnoxious tradition...its just kind of rude. As was this post, YOU need to get over yourselves-because its just about about everyone else against you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually there are some rude but traditional songs sung by soccer fans during games. And it's kinda obnoxious and rude. But no one complains because it's tradition. Here's an example: (To the tune of The Addams Family) by fans visiting Norwich: Your sister is your mother Your uncle is your brother You all fuck one another The Norwich family der der der der clap clap

by Anonymous 13 years ago

When was that ever sung? Im sure thats not why nobody complains...I think people complain about the south african tradition because its loud, annoying, and it actually affects the soccer players. If that song were affecting everyone, then I'm pretty sure itd be banned.

English games. And true. I usually forget to take that into consideration

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It causes loss of hearing from OMG FACTS: Listening to vuvuzelas for an extended period of time puts you at risk for hearing loss. You can lose hearing from listening to sounds at 100 decibels for only 15 minutes. The vuvuzela's sound is the equivalent of 127 decibels.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Agree with most of the comments, they're fucking annoying and you do NOT stop noticing them after a while

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm South African and I hate the damn things...Because when it gets to the point where people are blowing them ALL the time and not just at matches it makes me want to shove it down their throats

by Anonymous 13 years ago

South african players in the south african league deal with it all the time, so other players should adapt too. Its not only south africans blowin it at games, foreigners are also enjoyin it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm from south Africa and i hate the damn things but it's part of our soccer and for the foreigners who wants to change it is the same as going into a strangers home and rearranging the furniture. Deal with it! We, who live here, has to so you, who are just visiting, may just as well.

RACHEL BERRY LIVES IN AFRICA?!?!?! HOLY CRAP! :p <3

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Whenever i turn on the tv and her it it sounds like the beginning of fergie's fergilicous so i start singing that song.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well i am glad south africa created somethin annoyin dat america ddnt thnk off

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think it should be quiet enough that the players can at least communicate, otherwise that's unfair for the guests

by Anonymous 13 years ago

they can damage your ears... :S

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They are part of your custom and that's fine, but they distract the players and the noise is o annoying that it is IMPOSSIBLE to watch the games unless you put the tv on mute and that's no fun. Leave them for when the players AREN'T on the field.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Im South African... And what crack are you all smoking that you think it's a "part of us." uh no it's not. It's an irritating, mind numbing marketing device that allows Africans to indulge in their desire to make mindless noise. That doesn't make it a part of our culture.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The more irritated the foreigners got the more i blew the vuvuzela in their ears lol. but honestly half the people blowing the vuvuzelas were foreigners and lovin it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It good for things too. like drinking games. lol. you americans are just jealous you never thought of it first. i'll rather listen to a vuvuzela than your irritating accents lol
