-89 Death should fall under the category of cruel or unusual punishment, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not really decided on the death penalty, but I don't think it's cruel and/or unusual.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think it is acceptable for serial killers/rapists.

You kill someone, you die. Eye for an eye, friends.

leaves the whole world blind.

Not true. http://www.amirite.net/101824 ;D But no, I agree that it does leave the whole world blind, this is just a different case.

I'm shaky on the death sentence thing, but it's okay because im to young to start thinking all philosophically

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just remember that you need to think for yourself, make what -you- can out of the world, not what people tell you to make out of it. Yes, death sentence is immoral, but imagine what the person did to deserve it. Not everyone changes, and there's a good chance that the world just doesn't need a person like that one.

but, (to religious people) god is the decider of when one dies. so if we use the death sentence, wouldn't we trying to play the role of god, which certainly would not be good if religion is real.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But what if that -is- God deciding when they die? "A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up." - Ecclesiastes 3:3, New American Standard Bible I'm Christian, but I keep an open mind.

random thought. if god was a human being at this time, would he get put to death for the mass murders he's caused. he killed everyone except for noah and his family and some animals. he did it for the good of humanity, but he's killed more people than anyone will see in their life.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Good thought, but if God honestly were here as a human, would the people he's killed really seem that important?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

so if a man killed homeless people that are unimportant, he shouldn't get charged?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is turning into a religious argument, I'm out. V,,

i think being stuck in jail is worse punishment, why let them get away from the guilt, plus im always against killing

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, with 3 square meals a day, color TV, and no work, who wouldn't want to go to jail? When they're treated better than homeless people, there's really no point in hoping that jail is in any way a form of punishment.

Something people don't realize is that the people put to death are often tortured accidentally. It is extremely difficult to get a legitimate doctor to help put the person to death, because that is against the doctor's "code." So for thing like a lethal injection, the solution is often mixed slightly wrong, so the criminal could be in agonizing pain for a while after their injection. The electric chair regularly sets people on fire. Their is just no humane way to put people to death.

Anyone that believes the death penalty is wrong has obviously never lost someone to a psycho murderer/rapist and before you say well neither have I yes I have he killed and raped 3 elderly women does he not deserve to die for something that heinous?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i think that what that person did is completely terrible, but i also think that being stuck in a jail for the rest of your life is worse punishment than death, because then they dont have to live with what they have done anymore. i think they deserve to die, but i dont think they deserve the freedom that comes with it
