@206079 (Anonymous): haha AGREEEEEEEEEEEED

I agree! In my course this year my prof analyzed Frankenstein so hard, picking out every innuendo that could POSSIBLY be interpreted into some theory that it was ridiculous! Why don't I just think of some random theory myself.. anything is easy to prove if you try hard enough to find a quote that can match it

It feels gross...like I'm supposed to dissect a perfectly good book. Or a really uninteresting book, whatever the case may be.

I can't stand when teachers do that. It ruins what could have been a good book.

My 8th grade honors english teacher is renowned for being hard and mean but he crossed the line ruining the Little Prince for us then giving us a 3 period long QMFOAT (queen mother f***** of all tests) I mean it's just wrong.

I don't mind learning it as long as I don't have to write a paper on it.

Oedipal reading of Hamlet (be glad if you don't know what that is). It's perfect proof of this post...how could Shakespeare have had the Oedipus complex in mind when Freud wouldn't invent it for another couple hundred years?

A year of English Literature taught me this much... then again I'm a little nerd, so I get just as bad sometimes XD

I hated it when my teacher did this for Nightjohn. "The birds singing meant that everything was going to be okay..." "Um... yea, whatever."
