LOL. FAIL. The United States isn't even a continent. It's a country located in the continent of North America. Before you go ahead and go around calling a bunch of people stupid, you may want to check your facts first to get them right. Besides you can't generalize the whole entire country due to a stupid stereotype. Sure, in the U.S. there are a lot of dumb people, but there are a lot of smart people too.

Until OP says he was kidding anyone who says it's a joke is just making excuses. I'm an American and while I'm sometimes disgusted by the actions and people of my country I take great pride in what we've done for the world and what we stand for. People have the right not to like us and we have the right to get upset when someone says we're all stupid. Joke or not it was inappropriate. If this had been said about a different country there would be much fewer people sticking up for the person.
