+111 Most of the time, obesity, depression, and low self-esteem are the parents' fault, amirite?

I don't know about the last one. I thought low self-esteem was caused by your mates.

You're right. Up to a certain age though. By seventeen eighteen nineteen twenty one should take control of their lives and change their habits, get help, etc.

You're absolutely wrong. Parents have no control what Hollywood puts out what people should look like or how a commercial wants people to percieve themselves to buy a product. Parents don't tease you at school. I'm sure parents try to warn you but outside your house is a whole other world.

Our parents can control how we develop as children...especially socially. If our parents don't give us enough love or discipline, then we'd obviously turn out different.

I have to say you are wrong again. If your parents want you to get A's in school do you? No. If your parents want you to keep your room clean all the time, do you? No. Most kids do what the hell they want to. They bitch and yell and rebel or run away or do things deliberately until they get what they want and then after all things go wrong they blame it on their parents. Again. You are wrong.

No im not o.o the way your parents raise and interact with you determines how you end up later on

by Anonymous 14 years ago

So you need to be coddled your whole life? It's nice to interact with parents but not everything is as you see it on TV or the big screen. You sound spoiled and want everything to be like Hannah Montana's life. Hollywood can make the devil a good parent.

Who the fuck said I was blaming all my problems on my parents, or that I wanted a "Hollywood" life style? I took psychology last semester and although I can't just pull out an archive of all the stuff that I learned (and forgot Dx) I know for a fact that parents play a role on how you end up. Even cuddling your kid and praising him for everything they do can be harmful, or beneficial.

If your parents want you to get A's they make you do your homework every night. If your parents want you to keep your room clean they punish you when it doesn't happen. Part of a parent's responsibilities is to teach their children certain values and morals that they want them to have.

I think it's school, not parents. Low grades make me feel down, I snack on food during class, and people tease me. My parents are the ones asking how school is going and if there is anything they can do to help.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

I don't think it's school or my parents. If anything, I'm responsible, although I'm not obese, just chunky and boobs that make it worse. D<

It's a lot of factors. Parents, friends, peers, media, and your own personal opinions/lifestyle (which are influenced by the others, anyways). And somtimes it's just chemical.
