+454 You can't add a new letter in the alphabet, it will always be a combination of multiple letters you already know. amirite?

Then a conversation with you must be interesting...

I'm just stating lots of other sounds that could be made into letters. If we didn't use "k" in the alphabet, would it not seem unusual as well?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We could just use "C"

Have you ever heard of Xhosa? Xhosa uses three different kinds of clicks as speech sounds...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, lots of languages use sounds that an English speaker wouldn't consider "normal."

Trust me there ARE sounds that don't exist in the english language and even if it did exist as a combination wouldnt it be easier if there was a letter for it? For example if we made ʚ= "sh" that instead of "shit" we can write "ʚit" since there are three sounds in the word "shit" it makes sense to have three letters.

You know... this post is about new LETTERS. not sounds. and I'm preetty sure that it is saying that even if it does make a different sound, it already is a combination of two letters we already know, so its technically not a NEW letter. its just a different way to write it... its confusing to explain but I'm pretty sure I understand and agree with OP. (:

Psht, English isn't the only language, you know, and other languages don't have the same letters whatsoever.

What about just a straight line? Theres a new letter, it's sound can be whatever you come up with.. Problem solved.

Wow... it's astonishing that this has gotten that many YYA's... a fucking firstgrader would be able to figure out that this is wrong.
