+383 I don't think anyone has the right to name their child Jesus, even if you are a Christian. What's next? Allah, Shiva, or Yahweh? amirite?

Muhammad is the most popular name in the world.. is that wrong too?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was going to say this.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Its not wrong, and i dont see how it is wrong? In Islam, Muhammad is a very beatiful, cherished name. In Islam Allah has 99 names, and you can actually use them to name a child but you HAVE to put ABDU before it, like ABDURrahman and ABDUallah.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you're an atheist what do you call your child's name? Nothing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, Jesús is an average name in Spain...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

YAHWEH!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yahweh is the hebrew translation of Jehovah :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

actually, shiva is a common guys name in india.. except the "a" is silent... i dont really know about the rest though :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you forgot Hitler.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lol, if I was named Hitler I have to say I would hate my parents.

I remember reading about how the political theorist Miliband changed his first name from "Adolphe" to "Ralph" and for about ten minutes I kept thinking "Adolphe is a really nice name... where have I heard it before?" lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Um, you have THE RIGHT to name your child almost whatever you want.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know of 2 girls named alla... I don't see anything wrong with it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's just a name, they aren't saying that their child actually is the son of god.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've only heard the name Jesus pronounced Hay-sous. We pronounce Jesus Jee-zus.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Jesus is pronounced like Hay-sus, while the real Jesus is like Jeezus...and there is a whole lot of people named Shiva but the a is silent so its like Shiv.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sorry, it's the same name... Not everybody speaks English. I'm sure he's just as "real" to people who speak Spanish and pronounce Jesús their way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Jesus as in the song of god isn't always pronounced "Jeez-us", it is still pronounced "Hay-sous" in hispanic countries when they refer to the son of god. Also there's nothing wrong with naming your child Jesus. I

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It was a name before the son of God was born, it should remain a name after. There is nothing wrong with naming your children a name that you feel strongly about, or if you just really like that name.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

exactly, shiva's used with the a sound alot too along with 500 other variations of that name and other hindu gods and goddesses same with muhammad

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It is very common in most religions and cultures to name your children after gods, godesses, and other religious people like saints. Chances are if your family is religious you were probably named after somebody important to your religion. What I don't understand is when people give their children ridiculous made up names like La-a. amirite?!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

did you read that on MLIA???

by Anonymous 13 years ago

except in Japan where you can't even SAY a god's name

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If they want to name their child after a schizophrenic, it is their choice.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You do realize it is a spanish name and the 'j' is pronounced like an 'h', right?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

NOBODY names their kid jesus unless its the spanish way

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Jesus is hebrew for Joshua though, isnt it? I see no problem. If God's son was named "Andrew" would that name be taboo as well?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My friends sister is names shiva... And doesn't Joshua mean Jesus?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My little brother's friend's name is Shiva.. minus the silent 'a' thing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Jesus is the Greek translation of the Hebrew Yeshua, which is Joshua. It's really not that big of a deal.
