I agree that true marriage is forever but I don't think that all these idiots who get married after knowing the person for a year are really married anyway.

This is so judgmental. I agree that many people give up on a marriage before they should, but sometimes there is just no way to make it work. You shouldn't just assume that because a marriage ended, the couple is just too lazy to try and make things better. Besides, it's their life, not yours, so what does it matter to you?

Not really, most just don't stick it to the end. Yeah, there are curcumstances but the fact that over half of marriages end in divorce and the number one causes of those are money tells me nothing was put into those marriages. It matters to me because that's what happened to my parents and I don't want it to happen to me.

People are constantly changing and developing. Odds are the person you married 5, 10, 20 years ago isn't the same person any more, and you aren't the same either. People grow apart and shouldn't have to be stuck together just because divorce makes some people sad. It happens, it sucks, get over it. Divorce isn't the end of the world, just the end of a legally binding relationship.
