You've always wondered if the orange (the fruit) was named after the color, or if the color was named after the fruit. amirite?

Great. Now my brain hurts.

Actually, oranges are green when grown in other areas of the world.

It's like the chicken and the egg all over again!

Apparently, they dye the fruit orange because it looks ripe, so fruit after the color.

no, they were originally orange. they just dye them orangier. they pick them when they're not ripe, so their green and then they dye them. but they can also grow naturally to be orange. orange's were named after the l'orange family, and then the colour came from that.

I looked up pictures of green oranges. I feel like I've been betrayed!
