I'm fine with people smoking. I find it disgusting and unattractive, but if it's not in my face or near loved ones, I don't care. I don't want myself or anyone I love to be affected, so as long as it's away, they can smoke whenever they want.

Yeah... my mom is dating someone who smokes and he lives with us - all his sons smoke too. It is a gross pointless habit. It is especially disgusting when they blow the smoke right into your face. They actually set off the smoke detectors because they were smoking so much.

I was cursing to prove a point, but I suppose that one went over your head. And in any case, I don't think you understand what "attractive" means. It does not just pertain to physical beauty, it also includes anything that would *attract* you to another person. And that includes morals, so thank you for proving my point. Personally though, smoking for me has nothing to do with morals. I just think it's a disgusting habit that proves a lack of self control or stress management skills. That, for me, is unattractive (which is different from "ugly," as we learned in an earlier lesson).

What I'm trying to explain is that an attraction to someone is defined by a variety of different factors, including physical beauty, emotional compatibility, moral direction, religious beliefs, political beliefs, race and ethnicity, musical tastes, etc. So by saying that someone is unattractive because he or she smokes is not the same as calling he or she ugly. And to go back to my original point, just because something is a habit does not make it okay.
