-68 It makes no sense that some people support abortion yet oppose capital punishment, and others oppose abortion yet support captal punishment. amirite?

Well for the ones who are against abortion but are for capitol punishment. The baby is innocent, and capitol punishment is exactly what it is, punishment. The people had to have done something extremly horrible to get punished. But again the baby was just concieved.

Except for the people who were executed and then later exonerated by newly found evidence.

Lol, I support abortion and oppose capital punishment. My main reasoning is that I don't consider a fetus to be a person. End of story.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree. Also I think people who have done truly terrible things shouldn't just die they should rot in a jail cell in soliary confinement for the rest of their remainding life as punishment. Two rights don't make a wrong. There's no point killing somebody who has killed somebody else what example is that?

A fetus is only a stage of a person's life. As is a teen. Or an adult. Why would you exclude the young people? They have brain activity and pulses. You were once one. You have been human since conception! Why would you say that? If you support abortion because you don't care if a person is killed, then that is your own opinion that I say is sick and twisted. But don't even try to pass the excuse that babies aren't people. Just because they reside inside of a womb doesn't make them any less human.

Don't call my opinion sick and twisted. I literally do not understand how a 12 week old fetus, in its first trimester, can seriously be considered to be a baby. It's a bunch of cells. It's a developing baby. It's the potential for life. But it's not a human. It's one step above egg and sperm. And I'm not by any means pro-abortion. If I got pregnant tomorrow, I might decide to keep it, or I might get an abortion, but I don't know how I would deal with the situation. I believe that a woman has the right to choose how to deal with her pregnancy. And since I don't think the fetus is a child, I don't think it's wrong to terminate a pregnancy. I hate when pro-lifers talk about how abortion is "killing babies" because I honestly don't view it that way.

Having a child is an extremely painful process that could, if something goes wrong, kill the mother currently birthing her child, and drastically alter her life for the next eighteen years, and somewhat alter it until the day she dies. I consider the safety and choices of that person, with a name, memories, friends, emotions and a personality, over the safety of an organism yet to develop into a person yet.

Come on, if it can come out like a period, I don't think it's a murder.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I can see where both are coming from, but it really doesn't make sense. People are just silly sometimes.

Pro-Life; For Capital Punishment: The person committed a crime and deserves to be killed, while the baby didn't do anything illegal. Pro-Choice; Against Capital Punishment: Either: a.) A fetus's life is not the same as a human's life. b.) The mother shouldn't have to suffer through her life because of the baby she would give birth to. A human life is valuable and cruel punishment is unnecessary.

Im pro choice and I really hate capital punishment, but I never noticed the two ideals being odd together until I saw this ha. I just think the fetus isn't a person yet and the mothers life is more important, whatever she wants to do with it. Weve got enough unwanted kids running around these days. And as for capital punishment, that is a person, and I don't trust humans to be able to rightfully and fairly (hardly ever possible) to decide when to end someone else's life. We shouldn't have that much power, and were so imperfect. Well, that's how I look at it. Hah.

I'm pro-choice and against capital punishment. I believe the main dividing point between pro-life/choice is when each person considers the growth to be a living being. For me, until it can think for itself, it's just a growth. If you're being sentenced to capitol punishment, there's no question that you're a living person, so it's easy to understand how a person would have a problem ending it. I, however, am against capital punishment because there's too much room for error, and even foul play, in our current justice system for such a permanent punishment. If someone's locked up and later found innocent, you can release them. They may not be able to return to normal, but at least they still have a chance at life again. If someone's been executed and later found innocent..... Yeah....

do you think this guy deserves to live? http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-20012170-504083.html im not picking on you personally, but i was just looking for a post

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Stop and read my post before responding. It's not a matter of whether or not I think truly guilty people deserve it. It's a simple matter of how it's not worth it to have that punishment as an option if innocent people can get tangled up in it and executed for things they didn't even do.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I actually support both, but I see other peoples side. Capital Punishment is killing someone who killed someone else - guilty and does not deserve life. In theory anyway, some innocent people did die from it. Abortion is killing a completely innocent child who did nothing wrong, and deserves to live.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

im against both. abortion is murdering a human being before they're born. life begins in the womb. and i believe if it was unplanned pregnancy you should have the baby and if you cant take care of it, give it up for adoption. its a better choice. as for capital punishment. if they killed somebody they dont deserve a clean easy death through execution. they deserve to stay in jail for the rest of their days thinking about what they did. plus i also believe in the Bible which states that killing is a sin so killing a person for killing another person is still a sin.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I do have to add though, although killing is a sin. The Bible also mentions "an eye for an eye". So, though killing may not be the go-to option, it may be the most appropriate.

Although Im not exactly on the same page as you, Im glad to see you're very non hypocritical (I probably should've thought of a better word) in your beliefs. Hah its refreshing.
