But humans are cheating. Killing for food is okay, but hunting just for 'fun' using our death sticks that can insantaneously kill an animal that didnt even know we were there is just stupid. It's not a fair fight when we don't even need to break a sweat.
I don't like killing for fun.
If it's for food, that's one thing. If the person is just looking for a trophy, that's another
But the thing is, with bucks, they are overpopulating and sometimes, they're unsafe for human consumption[there's a disease or something]. If that's the case, having it as a trophy seems A-OK.
Uh, sorry to burst your bubble, but your steak wasn't hunted. It came from a domesticated cow on a farm that was systematically slaughtered. I'm not saying it's good or bad, that's the only way we can reasonably get enough meat for the entire population to enjoy.
yeah the dog getting too close to the water really made the gator work for it right??? If you don't like hunting, something all animals have done since the beginning of time that's fine.... just don't eat meat hunting is more of a sport than going to the grocery and picking out a warehouse animal
The dog analogy you offered is a man-made situation and wouldn't happen in nature. And I've no problem with animals hunting other animals for food, it's how nature works. But humans don't need to hunt anymore, because we domesticate animals and use them for livestock. Of course there are exceptions, but in general, hunting isn't necissary, and i certainly wouldn't call it a sport.
I totally agree with you. Most people DO use the meat, and if they don't, they're probably illegal poatchers. Most hunted animals would be WAY worse off if it weren't for hunting, because they would become overpopulated and then become extinct. But before they would become extinct, they might eat all of a certain kind of plant, and then all of the animals that eat that plant would die and so on until eventually it gets to humans.
it looks like a lot of you people think that people only hunt deer.. did you know that the population of lions in Africa is declining? It's at an estimated 30–50 percent decline over the last two decades. Scientists are still studying why, but I'm pretty sure that trophy hunting does not help the situation.
And I find it hard to believe that every single person that voted "Yeah, you're right" is a vegetarian. If you really cared about it that much, you wouldn't support the killing of animals and eat meat.
People who don't hunt don't know enough about it to realize that it's a GOOD thing. If people didn't hunt then most of the hunted animals would become overpopulated and die. And by registering for hunting, and buying tags when you shoot an animal gives the DNR money to research and help the animals. I personally use the meat from the animals that I shoot, and everybody I know that hunts does, too. And when deer become overpopulated, people hit them with their cars (by accident) and kill the person in the car. Now I don't know about you, but I don't want any of my friends or family die from hitting a deer, and I certainly don't want any animals to become extinct.
I hope your saying this as a vegetarian, because its at least more then whats happening for ALL the meat you buy in a store... and my bad for being smarter than an animal
I think you're your own opponent. And if you're trying to get into animal rights... if it weren't for hunting, most hunted animals would get overpopulated and ALL of them would die. I wish people would realize that by hunting, you are helping maybe not that specific animal, but all the other animals of it's kind. By hunting, you buy a registration and give money to the DNR so that they can study the animals and help them. So the animals would be a LOT worse off if it weren't for hunting.
they dont hunt endangered animals. legally. besides, maybe over hunting is causing some animals to become endangered because we are hunting their food.
Alligators hunt, lions hunt, even penguins hunt, sorry for being higher on the food chain

I would agree hunting just fir a kill is bad, but generalizing "hunting is bad" is dumb and not the case
Very true. Hunting is not bad. Hunting gives us food. I love my hamburgers and steaks
Excuse some people for not liking veggies only :P

thats disgusting.

I only used lions as an example, I don't think humans should hunt for sport or trophy, unless they actually use the meat after.
It's not a sport as much as an athletic activity.
Thank you for posting this... thought I was the only one who saw it that way.
This "game" is called war. Or it could also be that situation in the "Predator" series.
Alright, you go tell the deer and i'll wait here until you do.
This post proves that shopping is indeed not a sport.
This is just from a comedians stand up act

its not the killing of animals for meat, its the killing of animals for SPORT and trophy.

i agree completely!
props on stealing this from a comedian's act that was on comedy central today

but what about all the endangered animals that are dissappearing??
People don't hunt endangered animals. If they do, it's illegal poatching.
