I don't think it's right that animals should cost money, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well... because you have to pay for the animal it show you really want it and would therefore most likely take good care of it. If they were free some people may treat them badly :(

(livelaugh:)love<3): You're right, it helps ensure you'll take care of it. I just built a catapult, and were cats free, I'd test it as a CATapult, but I'm not willing to waste money buying one

But doesn't it cost money to adopt someone?
by Anonymous13 years ago
It costs $100 to adopt.

I think it's kind of ridiculous how there are millions upon millions of species of animals out there, including humans, yet we're the most important and everything has to revolve around us.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeah it generally does cost money to adopt. But then again that money is going towards the shelter that you found the dog at, and I would probably make a donation if it was free anyways.

It *does* cost money to give shots, feed them, give them shelter, give them some toys and blankets, pay for the electric bills, and make a living.
Some prices are outrageous, but sometimes, it's just to cover the cost of the dog and then some extra
When I got my puppy, the lady charged enough to only cover the cost of her shots and such, and got only a small bonus for herself.

I have to dissagree. There is already a massive problem in the U.S. with animal abuse as it is. If pets were free, people would be more inclined to get them, mistreat them, starve them, beat them, leave the out in the cold. It happens to much as it is now, and it is because people somehow end up with an animal that they didn't want. A price on an animals head is often the protection it needs from the scum of the human race.

Yeah that's basically what I was trying to say. Except you explained it a lot better than I did. haha :)

somebody has to breed feed and provide shelter for the animal
by Anonymous13 years ago
Also. If you put a price tag on a dog it makes seem (to some) as if there were mere property rather than actual living creatures. And people have a habit of mistreating their property. 'I paid 900 for this dog so it's mine and perfectly okay if I use it in this dog fight'. You lable an animal as a commodity and it's starts getting treated like one. IMO.

It isn't right to put a price tag on a living things.

Imagine if all pets were free. Imagine how that would effect our society. I'm a strong supporter for animal rights and equality, but sometimes it's better for the balance, and better for the animal.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's like selling humans, but with fur and 4 legs...it's kind of stupid.

Animals should costs money because then there is less chance that people will abuse the animal like some people already said. Also, if you want to buy an animal for cheap, just go to a rescue or a shelter. They aren't in it for the money, so usually the prices are very cheap. I adopted an African grey parrot for only $200 when they usually cost about $1,000! Also, don't buy pets from pet stores, they only care about the money and many pet stores end up abusing their animals, and after you buy them, they are sometimes in such bad condition that they die in like a week unless you pay hundreds of dollars in vet bills. Not all pet stores are like that, but some are.

I guess I see your point about not putting a price on a living thing, but if animals were free, then people can abuse them at higher scales. :(
