+246 Edward Scissorhands, no matter how innocent it may look, contains one of the biggest message and most meaningful metaphors, amirite?

what is it?

There's lots of it, and many people take it many different ways. Here's what I've got from it: 1. Teenage awkwardness. Edward Scissorhands is a huge metaphor for this, because (as you can tell from the movie), the teenagers are very "touchy." Edward can't do this, just as outcasts in "real life" can't. 2. It shows how society works. Everyone (even if you don't believe it) accepted in society shares at least SOME traits with others, but when Edward Scissorhands came, he was so different that as soon as he did something wrong, they turned on him. He was so different, they couldn't trust him. I kind of remember someone also saying that "they knew he was trouble all along." 3. Don't judge a book by it's cover. This one is obvious.

... it looks innocent?

That's what I was thinking... I can't imagine someone watching that movie and not getting the message. It's not at all subtle.

Look at the username. There's no such thing as a smart blonde.

It's not nice, but I laughed a little. I can't deny the thought crossed my mind when I was making the comment... this post does make an awfully big deal about something pretty obvious. If someone thinks getting the meaning of Edward Scissorhands is some big epiphany, it doesn't really say a lot for their intellectual prowess.
