+70 Before a person attacks or criticizes Islam or Muslims in general, they should read "Three Cups of Tea." amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Worst book I have ever read

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why was it so awful? I thought it opened my eyes more to the reality of Islam.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I felt it was extremely boring. Plus, people don't criticize Muslims, they criticize the radical muslimes and terrorists

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The first part was a little slow, but I disagree with the statement that people don't criticize Muslims, many do! I wish it wasn't true, but it very sadly is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

let's agree to disagree

by Anonymous 13 years ago

muslimes and their colloid effect and their gelatinous consistency.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That was a godawful (or allah awful) book! It was boring and totally useless. It took forever to get to the point, which was, in my opinion, worthless.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Samantha Jane): as the person above put it well, let's agree to disagree. I think that the mission of Greg Mortenson, to educate and empower women and children instead of killing them, was a great lesson. However, you have you opinion and it surely cannot be changed easily.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@ samantha jane read IF I SHOULD SPEAK its not boring and it teaches a lesson. it really shows what Islam is REALLY about.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

People should read "Three Cups of Mr.T"! I pity the fool who is intolerant of others!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've never read the book but I lived in a country where most of the population are Muslim.it's ridiculous how much prejudice is put against these people. The women are generally more made fun of because of the clothing that covers their entire body but if that's how they like to dress (for religious reasons) how is that any different from an American girl who wears short shorts and a tight t-shirt to show off her body?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Its not like most women WANT to.. Its more like, thanks to their religion, if they didnt theyd get beat n hung or stoned

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But they believe that they do not need to show off their bodies, they prefer to cover up. Women do not get stoned or any of those things for not wearing that, they will be perceived as sluts and that they don't mind being raped. So yes if they do not wear it then something bad can happen but most women just prefer to

As my mom's friend put it, "if my husband married me because of how I look from the outside, and the next day I'm in a car accident and become disfigured, he will leave me. If he marries me for who I am inside my soul, then even if I am disfigured, he will not leave me." it's a matter of choice, belief, and obedience. In Islam, your body is reserved for the pleasure of your spouse and your spouse only.

Greg Mortenson was actually proven to have lied about the whole thing, or something like that. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/30/too-much-hot-water-for-th_n_852361.html

Our school learned about this AFTER we donated thousands of dollars to his organization. As far as I'm concerned he's a dick.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah ours did too. He even came to speak to us. I met the man.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, technically he didn't lie about the WHOLE thing. He was in the middle east for like a year, but he didn't build any schools and he wasn't captured like he said. So yeah, he's a dick who steals people's money. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/17/books/60-minutes-report-casts-doubt-on-three-cups-of-tea.html?_r=1&ref=gregmortenson http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/18/three-cups-of-tea-author-threatened-with-lawsuit-for-defamation/?iref=allsearch

It's a religion of conquest. Basically join my religion and follow all of our rules, or you die. The Quran demands it's followers to "make war on the unbelievers". Actual quote from it. When politicians say that Islam is a religion of peace, they know good and well it's not, they just can't say so for public relations and international relations. I'm not saying that all Muslims are violent, because that is certainly not true. But the Quran is (violent). Look at their holy book! Jihads (holy wars) entail killing or converting all infidels. In Muslim terms, and infidel is anyone who doesn't worship Allah in the exact same way you do. And the Quran mandates these holy wars. In fact, the Quran demands them. Millions and millions of people have been killed over this. Of course the same is true for Christianity, but that's for another time.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Untrue, dude. Islam really is a religion of peace, and nowhere is it mentioned in the Quran that you should make war on the unbelievers. It's totally against that. I don't really care about religions, and I dislike religions, and I disagree with stuff in Islam, like the fact that women have to wear Hijabs (even though, loaaads of Muslim women don't wear hijabs), but I do know that it's peaceful and is against murder.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's just a blatant lie...What makes you think that the Quran doesn't say to make war on the unbelievers? Because I know for a fact that it does, so I want to know where you are getting this information.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Have you read the Quran? How are you so sure it says that?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I read books about religion. The End of Faith, by Sam Harris is one of them. He has a big section on Islam, and 3-4 pages filled with excerpts from the Quran, and the one that stuck with me was "make war on the unbelievers".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How about read the whole Qur'an instead?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I hate how, on the news, they would say "A Muslim terroist". I mean, if it were an American white male that had done thing such as that they wouldn't say, "A Christian terrioist". It's ridiculous how they've basically attacked the religion in the media.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How about we just stop criticizing when we're uninformed? It depends why you're criticizing. If it's just for fun, you shouldn't o it at all, if you're a theologist explaining why you don't believe in it, then you should know about eh religion itself by looking at the Koran or text books. I don't see how this one book would be so special that it would enlighten everyone on every aspect of Islam, muslims and terrorists in all.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Does the bible say some pretty weird stuff too?
