+502 You were kind of ticked off that, in the Last Airbender movie, they pronounced Sokka and Aang's names wrong but pronounced Zuko's name right, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Everytime they said those names wrong I would whisper them correctly. It annoyed my sister by the 20th time they said a name. Soaka? No. It's Sokka. That got me so mad >:(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hell yeah! it bothered me the wholee time! i was going to post this too hah :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no the way they were saying it is really the way u say it in the asian language i looked it up

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't give a fuck they pronounced it wrong from the show. The movie was based off the show not the asian language

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That would matter if it weren't an American show.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This is true, the movie was actually much more PC than the show, although I'd rather it be more based on the show.

Who the fuck cares if that's how they say them in Asia avatar was an American produced show Made by American And they should say the names like how they say them in the show

by Anonymous 11 years ago

YES. garsty;eiwh;le`4wrij gwqngrhq But Zuko's my favorite so I'm glad they pronounced him right... That movie sucked.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What the hell. Sokka was waaay too serious, and Iroh didn't talk about and drink tea enough, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, the pronunciation is the only thing he got RIGHT. The way they said it in the movie is the way the names are actually supposed to be said. The director is asian, so he wanted to honor the asian culture by actually saying it like they're supposed to.(Or something like that.) In real life, no asian language pronounces the "A" like short "E" as in "red", it's more like the short "O", as in "long".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The creators of the show pronounced them differently for a reason, and they should have honored that, in my opinion.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They pronounced them wrong in the SHOW not the movie. my gawd. the movie has the correct asian way to pronounce it. Get your facts straight before you assume something like that. I really doubt you could make a movie and accidentally pronounce everything wrong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Agreed. "Avatar was an American produced show Made by American" With 99% of the shit, being of Asian culture. The only American culture was the names they changed.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Never mind the fact that the show was set in a FICTIONAL world. It may have had Asian influences, but the show did not take place in Asia, so the creators were not limited to the Asian pronunciations of words.

so what if they pronounced them wrong in the show. if they're going to make a movie out of a well known and widely loved show, they shouldnt change something as trivial as the names, because it just confuses and pisses off all of the dedicated fans. if the movie was directed by someone who had a talented bone in their body, i might respect an artistic change like that. but did the name change offer anything of value to the story? no. no it did not. anyways, the whole movie sucked balls. the name change just adds to the level of epic fail.

Try just generally pissed at the whole movie....

That movie was such a disappointment. The show was so kickass and it was just... Sad how they made the movie. My dad and I were so pumped to go see the movie. He even paid for us to see it in 3D and they didn't even have many 3D effects! It was just... Crap.

I want there to be a remake that's 100x better and more true to the show.
