-105 Religion is like a box that you are told to deliver and not look inside. Some people stick to the rules and ask no questions. Atheists decide to open the box to find out that the box you had carried for so long was just empty. Amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wow ..thatx deep.. and so sad that you feel that way..

TROLL IN THE DUNGEON

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This isn't a troll post. You say that about every single post written by someone who doesn't think the exact same way you do. So you can just STFU and acknowledge that some people have other opinions. I happen to think that this is a fairly accurate analogy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I totally agree!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Alright, fair enough, if atheists can acknowledge that some people don't believe the box empty. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=trolling

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We understand that you don't think that the box is empty, and even though we disagree with you, I hope we can still have a normal conversation.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It would be a troll post if it was something like "Religion is retarted and all you Christians can go fuck yourselves with your bibles amirite?" This isn't a troll, this is someone expressing their opinion through an intelligent comparison.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha why would the troll be in the dungeon? Wouldnt they normally live under bridges? Dont tell me dora lied!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Atheists don't open the box either, they just say its empty. Nobody knows what's in it until its too late to tell anyone about it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think you're right that atheists can't open the box either, but we use the scientific meathod and determine that the box has to be empty, because it weighs the exact same as an empty box does and if you shake it, you can't hear anything rattling around inside.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh man, I think I love you

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That was a really good way of seeing it, well done 8D!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you can open the box in heaven(:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Nope, religion isn't an empty box. Our "box" contains the Bible, our faith, convictions, God's love, and the fact that you can't scientifically prove us wrong no matter what your theories happen to say.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

All that stuff you said represents the air inside of the box. Wow this analogy is perfect!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

thank you:)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

however, you can't scientifically prove what you believe to be correct

by Anonymous 13 years ago

nope your right. i'm just saying, it's funny this post came from an atheist who has the nerve to call our "box" empty, ironic, yes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But you have the nerve to call my box full. Its a two way streak. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

as a christian, this is highly offensive. you have no idea what you're talking about, my friend. Christianity/creationism can be proven with science as good as, if not better, than atheism. ask any expreienced evangelist, they'll tell you

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's no more offensive then when people like you insist that they are right despite all evidence to the contrary. I'm not offended when you state your beleifs, and this shouldn't be "highly offensive" to you. And I would just love to see this scientific proof of God. I hear about it all the time, but much like God itself, it never seems to materialize.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Catholics were wrong about the earth's rotation and point-blank refused to believe or even test the theory of the scientists during the Renaissance. Yes, Catholics might be correct. Might be. There is just a LOT of evidence disproving creationism, and there isn't much/any proof of a god [do you see all of the suffering caused naturally? Would a god make his people suffer that much?] Even now, many Catholics still refuse to explore and/or accept other possibilities. Other religions do, too. And I understand quite a bit of Catholicism. I was Catholic for 14 years. Please don't generalize.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just in reference to your point about suffering: remember that a lot of our suffering is caused by things we have done, decisions we have made, etc. And as for things such as natural disasters--while I hate that so many lives are lost in earthquakes and hurricanes and the like, I prefer to look at them from a different angle and observe what thousands of people around the world are doing to help those whom they don't even know. It's actually quite hopeful, in a way. Friedrich Nietzche's quote "Whatever does not kill you only makes you stronger" comes to mind--people grow (if they so choose--and again, this is our choice, not God's choice) from bad experiences. So in my belief, suffering is merely God giving us a chance to grow. E.g., a parent disciplines his/her child because he/she loves the child and wants him/her to become mature. You might not agree with me, now or later, but I just wanted to give my side of things. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because losing a loved one really makes everyone grow. Some people would grow from it, others would become depressed. And that only answers/argues with one of the points I made.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Which is why I said it's a person's choice whether or not they grow. It's up to us, not God. And yes, it's awful when you lose a loved one, but everyone has--and for that matter, everyone must, because if no one ever died the planet would have been overrun ages ago. Yep, I said I was only going to address that one point. But another thought: yes, I agree that many Catholics (and other Christians) refuse to explore or accept other possibilities, but like it or not, every person on this earth does the same--though it might be with other things and not religion. Anyway, in my understanding of the Bible, God doesn't want us to be closed-minded. But no one can be perfect, even if some people say it's possible....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Nietzche was an atheist.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

key words, "any expreienced evangelist"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

have you looked outside? It's God's amazing creation? Tell me a more plausible reason.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

For those of us who look inside the box, we find our more about our faith which strengthens it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You find stuff from air? Unless you have super amazing vision that can out-see the best telescopes in the world, you'll only find air.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

say what you like all of you but that post was kind of humerous... I just want to ask the cristians why they believe in god and why they think the bible is true

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I believe in God simply because with what I see of the world, it's hard to believe that there's nothing else after this life. I don't think that when we die, we just rot in the dirt and that's the end of our existence. How depressing would that be? I don't agree with everything in the Bible and most people don't, but it for some people, it gives them the hope they need to keep going on with this life. Religion and God = Hope that there's something better than this life. Hopefully that answered your question. I found this post to be an extremely accurate analogy, except for the end. I don't think the box is empty. Maybe there's just something in the box that not everyone can see.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Everyone has their own beliefs and opinions. You can't deny someone how they feel when the read scriptures or pray. Sometimes people need to agree to disagree because we get nowhere in arguing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well who's to say that the box being empty means religion is wrong? what if the real delivery is the box itself?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

this post never said religion was wrong. It merely stated that it can be a lot of empty promises. Correct me please if I'm wrong, OP

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I am saying exactly this. I am a person of science. I cant believe in something i cannot use my eyes or touch, to sense.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

hey answering you that other day waz kwl [JehovahzFan] ..any other questions??

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Reading too much in FAIL It's a metaphor dude

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(AnonE.Mouse): Ha thx. People are ridculous.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As a person I am just expressing my opinion. I have no idea if I am right, or not. Cristians have no reason to not believe in god. As an atheist I just have no reason to believe in god. I know that religion is a harsh subject, but no one is right. No one can prove wether I am correct or not but that's why life is so great!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i can try to prove to you that im right.. with a bible and scriptures from it _Ask me a question but please be sirious about it ..because im being sirious

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This analogy actually sucks because it is a difference of opinion, not like Christians are blindly believing in something and atheists are smart enough to "open the box" and know for a fact that it isn't true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Im not sugesting that Atheists are smarter than Christians or anyone. This was purely just thinking aloud. And no, no we dont know its god is reality or a matter of fiction. But neither does any other person.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wow, that was such a good analogy. So true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Anyone interested in open mindedness should look at the vadas. Sounds like darth "vader". It is the oldest religion in history and is fairly influential. Just look it up. Its really cool.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thats sounds really cool to look up. I just might do that! :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Damn STRAIGHT. *new favorite post*

by Anonymous 13 years ago

God doesnt make the world suffer ...The Bible says that itx the Devil whoz ruling THIS system of things, this world ..and its the devil whos making you suffer ..but this system of this is going to end [s0on enuf]

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I belive in God and that the bible is true, because the more i learn about him and hs son ..the more i want 2be like them ..religon gives me strenth 2carry on in ths horrible world, and contentment in knowing that everythng wil be okay

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And i am not saying that this is wrong. I am glad you feel that way, and if religion is what keeps you standing so be it. Im glad that people have opinions or the world would be so boring!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@I'heart'Jehovah Iam curios why do you think that the bible is real? It could be just a book of fiction, that had been taken the wrong way. Anyone could have written it and said they were touched by a mighty god. I am very curious as to what you thing god is? Nothing i am saying is suposed to come out offensive so if it does im sorry.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

greatrande : without using google kud u tel me what newyorks bestseller was around february, better yet 10yrz back? ..But the bible has been here [un4gotten] 4decades - itx advice &'rules' are so helpful, protective and understanding ..itx helpd people from different bkgrounds, countries and generations ..how else can such greatness be explaind? And the more you get to know Jehovah and his son (thru the bible) the more you feel him and know his real -> love cant be touched but its there, you know that cause you feel it all the time

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lol i think i got carried away and didnt exactly answer your q :) the bible is accurate n reliable because its inspired by God [2timothy 3:16] and fiction books that everyone no matter where you go know dont last for decades (or do i stand corrected?) and 2me God is everything [life is hard] and being spiritual doesnt stop you from suffering it just helps you deal with your problems knowing theres something better in store. Created by God because his so loving, kind and merciful [Exodus 34:6; 1 John 4:8, 16]

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Bravo1

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(AnonE.Mouse): Haha *Bravo!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maybe it's only empty after they open it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love the analogy. It's so correct that you've offended a lot of Christians.
