not all girls think that - im a girl right? but it definitely is something a lot of my friends talk about....having a "gaybestfriend". im so sure that someone would want to be best friends with you because you want someone gay to talk to.
or mayyybe they want a gay bestfriend because they're not two-faced like girls but they have all they other preferences like girls such as fashion senses and things like that. (I'm referring to the more feminine gays)
A stereotype is a type of opinion. You are implying that all girls are two faced, which is a stereotype. You are also implying that gay men are never as two faced as girls: another stereotype. They're still opinions.
no I am not "implying" that ALL girls are two-faced. No I am not "implying" that gay men are NEVER as two-faced as girls. I said USUAlLY girls are more two-faced then gay guys or any guys for that matter. That's not a stereotype. A stereotype is common and believed by many. This is simply an OPINION.
You haven't even used the word usually at all until this comment so you have implied that girls are two faced. A stereotype is a common BELIEF. An opinion is a BELIEF (notice the keyword). That makes a stereotype a type of opinion.
@933546 (lilyzilla): The key for you might have been common, but not all common things are stereotypes. All stereotypes are common beliefs. Another word for belief is opinion. That means that a stereotype is common opinion, hence a type of opinion. Your opinion that gay men make make better friends than girls because they are less two faced is very common, so by definition is a stereotype.
I have a gay friend and he's seriously probably one of the most two faced people I've ever met. Gay guys can be just as dramatic as girls. Or straight guys.
I can't remember where I heard this, but it was something similar to "Why is it the only men you find non-threatening are the ones that have no ulterior motive to sleep with you?"
It can be annoying when girls think that all gay men want to sip skinny lattes with them, and talk about boys and shopping, and say stuff like "Don't go there, sister!"
Well I like to thik its cause gay guys are the best of both worlds, they are loving and caring like girls usually are/want to be and the are just as perverted as the rest of the guys so girls don't need to hide the part from judgemental girlfriends
Your sexual preference shouldn't define who you are, which means it shouldn't define how good of a friend you would are. And who says being gay gives you good fashion sense? This is dumb.
This post makes me think of girls who use gay men as accessories.
i guess some girls assume that "gay" is a personality trait, not a sexual preference :/
Some gay guys are real jerks. Girls need to learn being gay isn't what defines a person.
not all girls think that - im a girl right? but it definitely is something a lot of my friends talk about....having a "gaybestfriend". im so sure that someone would want to be best friends with you because you want someone gay to talk to.
I can't really say anything. I have a gay best friend, but she's also my girlfriend.
but im assuming you're not friends with her purely because of her sexuality?
Of course not. I'm only dating her because she's gay. If she wasn't she'd be straight and wouldn't want me.
fair enough. probably shouldve thought that one through....

Gays can be two faced. Stereotypes are never okay, not even the nice ones.
I didnt say none of them were but they are not* anywhere near as two-faced as girls are. That's not a stereotype. That's an opinion.

You forgot about the word "common" in your definitions there. That was her personal opinion.

She wasn't implying a stereotype. She was stating a personal belief, not a common belief, therefore, no stereotype was ever mentioned.
The belief is a personal belief that is also common, therefore a stereotype. Understand?
no the key word is COMMON. You don't hear people saying oh gay men aren't two-faced.
I have a gay friend and he's seriously probably one of the most two faced people I've ever met. Gay guys can be just as dramatic as girls. Or straight guys.
This is so old, I don't even remember what I said, but I'm almost positive that I did not say no gay guys are two-faced.
Every guy needs a lesbian friend.
My best guy friend is gay, but I think it's stupid to use them as accessories.
Plus, he was my friend before he came out to me.
same here. he just came out and told us on new years and nothings changed except my friends are trying to set him up with our other gay friend.
Every girl WANTS* a gay friend.
There is a difference between 'want' and 'need.'
Plus, we're not accessories.
a sassy gay friend!
what are you doing? what, what, WHAT are you doing??? :)
(!): hahahaha<3
I seem to have survived pretty well without one...this statement annoys me.
Especially if they're a lesbian.
Until you fall in love with him. Then your life just totally sucks.
I would be lost without my gay bestie. :p
Well I like to thik its cause gay guys are the best of both worlds, they are loving and caring like girls usually are/want to be and the are just as perverted as the rest of the guys so girls don't need to hide the part from judgemental girlfriends
Ugh this reminds me of the girls who spend their time searching for a gay guy to drag to the mall
The only reason why I click Yeah You Are is because of Sassy Gay Friend!
