Black gangsters are less scary because they are too poor to afford guns so I never have to worry about them.

Old school gansters tended to be white. Modern ones are just lowlife scum tainting their own areas then whining its bad to live there. Honour amongst thieves died, respect died with it. Taking someone seriously isn't about fear but respect. I fear idiots with bad actions being chosen but does not mean a man willing to drag everything around him down for a little profit and name on the street is worth taking serious unless we are talking about seriously ending such idiocy.
