Actually, in the middle ages, printers had trouble printing a lowercase "i", so they capitalized it and it stuck.

Well, I's are capitalized for two reasons, in my opinion: 1. What the Anonymous dude said. 2. When preferring to "I", you're saying yourself. You capitalize the first letter of a name, like "Chelsea", in which case, I is the only and first letter of your name, so it is capitalized also. I kind of feel like I should be answering a question on Yahoo Answers right now... yeah.
