+218 It's annoying when you see a kid throwing a tantrum at a store and the parent is doing absolutely nothing about it, "Oh my God, control your kid before I do!!!" amirite?

Maybe ignoring the kid is their way of handling the situation. Kids hate being ignored, and yelling at them can sometimes only make it worse.

Ignoring the child is a good thing to do in situations like that, but not in a public place. Then you need to get them in control, and teach then that such behavior is just unacceptable.

I feel really uncomfortable when a parent physically discipline a child in a public place.

I didn't mean that you have to yell or hit them to get them under control. What my mother did is she took me to the side and talked to me about how my behavior is annoying other people. By nature, no human wants to do harm or be rude to others outside of revenge

Which is why, everytime I'm in a place with a crying child, I get out as fast as I can to avoid smacking the child's parents.

Autistic kids get really nervous in certain social situations and just can't handle it. It seems like a tantrum, but they just wanna get the hell outta there, so try not to instantly think that when a kid is making noise in public, it's because they're a brat. There are WAY more autistic children around than there used to be.
