Some people need to understand that America is a democracy, not a theocracy, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's a Democratic Republic.
by Anonymous14 years ago
close enough
by Anonymous14 years ago
Not even. Our nation is even bordering an oligarchy, if we keep going in the direction that we are now.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Oh... well, anyway, my point is that it is not a theocracy
by Anonymous14 years ago
Agreed :)
by Anonymous14 years ago
Umm, our nation is not bordering an oligarchy....what do you mean?
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's bull how religion has a major influence on the government.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I'm not talking about the whole nation, just a few states that think they are an exception to the law of seperation of state and church.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Oh...well I still agree with you :P
by Anonymous14 years ago
There is no law separating church and state, that was just an ideal of Thomas Jefferson's, that he mentioned in a letter to a friend. This nation was made so that the majority would rule over the minority. If the majority are of the same religious bent, then the minority have no choice but to suffer, or rise up.

How does religion have anything to do with our government?
by Anonymous13 years ago

America is a republic we vote in elected officials, if it was a democracy the people would be making the laws not our elected officials chosen to represent us.
