+928 If school started later and gave us more time to sleep, almost every student would get better marks, amirite?

i think thats the only reason you pay for college XD

You're quite right- several research studies have shown that high school students who start their school day later tend to have better test scores. But good luck getting the education system to listen to sense.

exactly what i was going to point out here !!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wouldn't say everyone. Some people just don't care, others are plain stupid

My high school changed its time so that we go to school like the elementary schools, from 8:45-2:30 and it doesn't work....everyone just goes to bed an hour later, so it makes no difference.

However then it would go later, and everyone would complain about not having enough free time.

I've said this thousands of times, and I'll say this again. School should be from noon to six on tuesdays thursdays and saturdays. It would have to go through summer and possibly add a thirteenth grade, but it'd be totally worth it.

you know, I find it funny that people are disagreeing with my comment because I posted the same comment saying the same thing a few months ago on a different post and it got a bunch of thumbs up.

Context, bro.

My school starts at 7:20 so i have to leave like 7:00 cause there is a lot of traffic. Then school ends at 2:00.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

wow you have 45 minutes less class time than us! we start at 7:23 (I know, weird time) and then get out at 2:45. But we only go to 5 classes a day(with a rotating schedule) and they are 71 minutes long (on days we don't have shortened classes because of some assembly or something.)

I recently learned that there's a chemical in your brain that makes it difficult for teenagers to fall asleep before 11. Most kids in my school have to get up from between 5:00 to 7:15 and teenagers need more sleep than most people- about 9 hours a night, minimum. Not. Enough. Time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, I think if the system let us start school later, we'd just stay up later and go to sleep later, and it wouldn't really make any difference. I mean, I know I would.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If school started late enough,we wouldn't complain.I mean, who's going to stay up at 3:00 A.M?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just go to bed earlier, ffs. It's not "sense" to change a system that better prepares you for the real world and promote laziness in order to get "better test scores". School is set up the way it is for a reason; quit whining about it and get everything you can out of it. It doesn't last forever.

If I don't finish my homework at night it would be easier for me to do it until 1 am andget up and do it at 7am instead of doing it until 11pm and waking up at 5am even if I get the same amount of sleep it is just easier to wake up and get started on things if the sun is out.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Then you would have to get out later and have less time to do homework and wouldn't have enought time to hang out with your friends.

I agree with three posts above me. Personally, I dont think postponing school a few hours later would make much difference to my day if I'm still in the mind set that tells me I'm too lazy today to get to school.
