its actually highly unlikely that it would be similar to earth. if the sun were even a few inches closer to earth than it is now life would not be able to survive. the extreme requirements of life are hard to come by and its pure luck theres life on earth. and then bp screwed it up.

That's not true. If it was, you would die if you climbed any higher than a few feet off the ground. And there are millions of different elevations that people live at, so that statement is completely false.
