+180 According to the world's smartest person, Marilyn vos Savant, baths are actually just as sanitary as showers because the dirt sticks to the soap which is repelled from your body. We have been lied to our whole lives, amirite?

However, also contrary to popular belief, a bath uses up much more water than a shower does.

Forget water conservation, I want a bath, dammit!

For me, a shower uses more water. I stopped the drain one day while showering and it filled the tub up more than it would if I had bathed.

I do this every time I take a shower. Kidding aside, I'm probably single-handedly destroying the environment.

There's no factual evidence behind any claim made in this post, nor is the logic supporting it obvious.

Is this person a specialist in baths and soap? Just because they're an expert in physics or whatever doesn't mean they're the smartest about every subject.

That's basic science. Soap is a base and specifically used to repel dirt from the body. How clean you are when bathing pretty much depends on how much you wash yourself with soap, though. It's not like you can just drop a bar in the tub and expect it to be just as clean as a shower. You need to scrub yourself.

Soap lifts the dirt from your body and water washes it away.
