Why is "Patrick" in quotation marks, but "Homer Simpson" isn't?

Well because everyone knows who Homer Simpson is and not everyone knows who Patrick is. That is why I wasn't like "Homer Simpson" from the simpsons. You gt the general idea anyways...it really wasn't necessary to point that out...

Um, that made no sense whatsoever. Yes, I understand that people might not know who one of those characters is. I just don't understand why the OP would put one character name in quotation marks and leave one out. Quotation marks have nothing to do with popularity. I am slightly confused by the point you are trying to make. I was only trying to point out a simple grammatical error that I noticed. You're right, it wasn't necessary to point that out, but it wasn't necessary to tell me that it wasn't necessary, because you ended up not making sense.
