+124 "Copying music isn't stealing; if I could copy food, it would end world hunger." "Yeah, but then food companies would go out of business, stop making food, and ALL of us would go hungry," amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Umm.... what the fuck.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Huh?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not if you keep copying the food faster than it is consumed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But do you want to only eat one type of food for the rest of your life?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You never said one type of food, you just said food.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Just copy different types of food?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Also, if there was only one type of food being copied, and it was being copied faster than it was being consumed then no one would starve as long as they weren't being picky little bitches d

by Anonymous 12 years ago

ALSO! If they were only copying one type of food then the food companies wouldn't go out of business because of the demand for other types of food.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What if copying the food didn't make the food fresher? (ex: copying a rotten banana would produce a rotten banana, not a fresh one). Everything expires eventually, so if companies weren't producing food we'd eventually run out of fresh food.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I hadn't thought of that, but I like it. That's probably the best way to make this analogy work.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why would we copy a rotten banana in the first place?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The point was that copying the food wouldn't produce food that is fresher than the food you copied. If you copied a jar of peanut butter that expires September 2012, the copied food would still expire September 2012

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So then the food companies wouldn't go out of business cause there would still be a demand for fresh food to be copied. Either way its a terrible metaphor

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Food companies wouldn't be able to make any money. They'd grow, say, one fresh banana which could be copied into millions of bananas and no one would buy any other fresh bananas for a couple weeks. The metaphor works.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Besided that the demand for that one fresh banana would be very high, thus they can would sell it for a huge profit

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, since there's 2 people talking in the post, I voted NW since I don't know which one you are. And because it's stupid.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

the only downside to copying things would be the jobs lost; but if you could copy everything you wouldnt need any jobs

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't understand this logic. Maybe it's cause I've been drinking.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There just really isn't that much logic, dont worry

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And what does this have to do with music?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's a metaphor
