+630 It would be funny to install the app for the iPhone that allows you to turn your lights on and off from anywhere, then move house, and keep using the app to turn the lights on and off for the people who live in your old house. amirite?

I don't think it works that way

Aw, damn :(. Why wouldn't it work though?

Because there's this little box that you put your light's power cable through (so the light plugs into the special box, and the box plugs into the wall/power source). So you'd probably have to take the box with you. But I guess you could just leave it behind

It would be similar to a garage door opener - if you're too far away , the signal will be too weak for the garage door to pick up.

On the advert, he does it from the airport. The point of it is that you can turn your lights off once you've left the house if you've forgotten to.

There's actually an app that does that? Then it would be nothing like a garage door opener. The only way I can think of to get an app like that to work is if it incorporated wifi...and additionally you would also have to get special lights . It sounds too expensive for me.

yeah you have to buy a box or something that connects to your power source for your lights, and it's really expensive. So yeah, it would be going way too far just for a joke, but you know (:

Yeah, the box just connects to your wifi, and then you use your phone's network to use it from wherever you have service

Well I did something similar on a much smaller scale. I used a remote mouse app to control the mouse on my computer while someone else was using it. :P

I use a full computer control app :P it doesn't work with games ):

You mean like a remote desktop app?

Have you seen those tiny ninja remotes that will work on any TV? Those are VERY fun to use in school.
