My grandmother lives approximately 30 km from where Hitler was born. I live in the city where he decided to go to Germany and into politics. That city is called Vienna, capital city of Austria (small german-speaking country in Middle Europe). Right now, a neo-nazi (Heinz-Christian Strache) is trying to become head of the Austrian gouvernment. About 18% of the population support him. Those 18% may be stupid fuckheads, but the remaining 82% probably paid attention in History class and know a national socialist party when they see it. I've participated in several demonstrations against said party, and I'm only sixteen. I did so because I know that the exact same things that happened in Germany in the 1930's are happening again now. So how dare you question the importance of History class?

I totally agree actually. First of all, the whole "if you ignore history it will repeat itself" is total crap. YOU have no say in history. Unless you become the president, a member of his cabinet, a terrorist, someone high up in the military, or a senator/representative/governor ( assuming you're from the U.S. of course), then you won't affect history a bit. And the likelihood of acquiring one of those positions is slim. However, even if you did, it's still unlikely that you'd affect history. So it really doesn't matter. Besides, almost all of the history classes in American high schools are Eurocentric and heavily biased anyway. HISTORY DOESN'T MATTER.

Yeah history was fun. 7th grade teacher was fun. Civics was great in 8th. Then ancient history in 9th. In my school, I have a teacher named Mr.George and I had him. The class was always freezing, all he'd make us do is write down notes for about an hour and a half, he'll just talk nonstop changing subjects like no tomorrow. I then thought history was pointless and I won't be needing it. Come 10TH grade, I hope that the teacher will be more interesting.
