The Dont Ask, Dont Tell policy is crap. You shouldnt care whether a soldier is gay or straight, all you should be doing is showing respect for those who are willing to serve our country and risk their lives, not penalizing someone for being themselves, amirite?

To put it more simply, men only have to shoot straight, not be straight.

Would a normal man fall in love with a gay woman? Unlikely. Similarly, it is unlikely for a gay man to fall in love with a straight man.

guys gay ppl usually dont like straight ppl. like ifu liked someone the. found out theunwere gay u would move on. they so the same thing so u do t have to worry about it. they didnt join the army to hook up with men but to serve ourc ountry

I agree that it's stupid. But it's also necessary. In today's society some people... okay, a lot of of people, are uncomfortable around a gay person of their gender. They have no real reason though. The law is only still there to prevent gay bashing in the military. Or at least that's part of why.

agreed, but i have to say that in some situations soldiers have to huddle together to stay warm. if someone was gay, well...lets just hope he doesnt get too excited...right? but i agree; theres nothing wrong with being gay. in fact, one of my favorite youtubers (my role model) is gay.

Not to mention just because somebody is gay, doesn't mean they're attracted to every guy they meet.

i know what you mean but the soldier signed up for it & im pretty sure he would know that he might be put in some situations as the one you describe and would have respect for his fellow heroes.

I'm not exactly a gay supporter, but even I don't see why it should matter if a soldier is gay or straight. They are there to serve for our country, their sexual preference doesn't effect that.

People really shouldnt be anymore afraid of a gay person liking you than a straight friend of the opposite gender liking you.

This whole post seems to SUPPORT the policy. Gay men and women aren't being asked to cover up their true selves; they're just being asked not to discuss their sex lives in a professional environment, just as any straight person is asked to do. It's unprofessional to discuss your sex life in a professional situation. You're right--it doesn't matter whether you're gay or straight. This post just agrees with Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

Men in the military bunk together, in small spaces. It's the equivalent of putting a man in a small bunk full of women. I'm not sure about this, but I can see why it would be difficult.

only most gay people don't bother hitting on obviously or self-declared straight people anyway, much less in a foreign country while at war. it would be the equivalent of putting a straight man in a small bunk full of lesbians. and not the fun kind of lesbians.
