+638 When you see someone smoking, you want to punch them in the chest and say, "Thats what its gonna feel like in a couple of years!" amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's funny, when I see someone smoking I prefer not to judge them as I know next to nothing about them, to respect their choices, and to respect them enough as fellow human beings not to interrupt their relaxation by punching them in the gut. But hey, I guess we're all different.

By now, every smoker should know the consequences of their decision. If they do, then I have no real problem with that. They have accepted that they will have decreased respiratory function over time, and make themselves more susceptible to respiratory diseases and cancer. Why go out of your way to hurt someone? What is to be gained from that?

Hey, I don't care if you smoke, you're just helping me. In 2001 "the net benefit of smoking to the [Czech Republic] government, including taxes and subtracting public health costs, was reckoned to be $148 million" -Naked Economics (yeah, I started my summer reading)

I was listening to a college professor talk about links between nutrition and cancer. She went on to explain the risks involved in certain foods and ways to try to prevent cancer, blah blah blah. She then said, and I quote: "But if you smoke, don't bother."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh what a relief, I find watching what I eat really annoying and frustrating, and I'm so glad that now I don't have to bother :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

u don't want to bother, you'd rather get cancer and die instead...?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was joking, but let's run with it. I would rather get cancer and die than spend my life constantly worrying if what I was eating could potentially increase my chances of getting cancer.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the difference between people who smoke and people who don't is that people who smoke don't give a fuck that you don't.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, because then I'd be a douchebag who judges people based on one stupid habit they have. Everyone has their stupid shit they do, and people like you need to learn not to treat them like idiots or children just because they do something YOU don't like. You don't rule the world, now get the fuck over it

no one's being judgemental here. It's just sad to watch someone hurting themself that way. I haven't smoked in over four months now and I've never felt better. I'm not saying it's ok to punch people and it's definately not ok to pass judgement on other people's personal life choices but it is still allowed to bother you when you see someone doing something self-destructive.

This is so not a repost.* *sarcasm

by Anonymous 13 years ago

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dude that Is seriuosly my bad, you were the OP I'm guessing the repeats I've seen are repeats of this original post. Or actually no this post just made It to the first pages. You see that happens. Again my bad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ok.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Or you can be a mature person and tolerate the face that people think differently than you and choose to smoke. If it's not your problem I think you should mind your business.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sorry, *fact

by Anonymous 13 years ago

OK everyone, its just a post. No sane person would go around punching people. It's a hypothetical scenario/thought!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's still fucking cruel...
